You make a difference with every action you take. Sometimes the effect of your actions may be small and seemingly unnoticed, other times your actions make a big splash. Either way you are already changing the world, the question is—are you changing it in the way you want to?
Why Help?
By supporting Aver School you have the chance to take small actions that will make a BIG difference in the life of a child or young person that is living in an orphanage or homeless shelter.
Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation.”
~ John F. Kennedy
Giving kids the opportunity to develop their greatest abilities in order to fulfill their private hopes and dreams and benefit the world is what Aver School is all about.
In today’s world, digital media skills are as foundational as reading, writing and ‘rithmetic. Aver School currently hosts an annual workshop at Esperanza Viva Youth Home in Puebla, Mexico. In the future, a video and audio program will be added to the curriculum.
Ways You Can Help
Part of our program involves connecting the kids to professional photographers that can both teach and inspire them; if you are a professional photographer who loves teaching, working with kids and traveling or if you have a digital camera that is not being used, by all means get in touch – we know some kids who’d appreciate it!
You can also get involved and support our work in the following ways:
- Like us on Facebook.
- Follow us on Twitter.
- Follow us on Flickr.
- Host a Camera Campaign – and help get digital SLR cameras for students.
- Sponsor a Workshop – donate funds to help cover program expenses. Each workshop costs between $1,500-2,500 to run depending on the number of instructors that participate. With 20 to 30 students participating in each workshop, we are in sore need of more cameras and are also raising $2,500 to buy 5 digital SLR cameras. Any amount you can donate really helps!
Thanks in advance for being part of the experience!
